FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DENVER, August 6, 2012– The jackpot for Wednesday night's multi-state Powerball drawing is up to $212 million! The winning ticket will be worth an estimated $142.9 million in cash.

One lucky ticket sold in Edwards, Colo., matched 5 of 5 numbers in last Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing to win $1 million. If the player had opted for the Power Play option for an extra $1 the ticket would be worth $2 million. The ticket was purchased at Edwards Station, 0436 Edwards Access Road in Edwards, Colo.

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. MST. Powerball is a multi-state game with a starting jackpot of $40 million and other prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million. To play, consumers choose five numbers from 1 to 59 and one Powerball number from 1 to 35. Players that match five numbers and the Powerball win the jackpot. Players can also opt to spend an extra $1 for a Power Play option, which gives players a chance to win $2 million cash on the match 5 prize and increases the lower-tier prize amounts.
