Finalists Named for Cat Scratch Fever Lottery Tickets
DENVER – From Nugget to Black Jack to Tigress, the Colorado Lottery unveiled the 30 feline finalists for its Scratch game, Cat Scratch Fever, at www.yourkittyhere.com, and Peggy Gordon, director of the Colorado Lottery, encourages the public to “cast your vote and help us select the winners!”
The 30 finalists were selected from a pool of 2,347 entries. Coloradans submitted photos of their pets December 26, 2006, to January 26, 2007, for a chance to be on the Scratch ticket, which debuts this April.
“We knew Colorado had a lot of cat lovers, but the response was overwhelming,” said Gordon. “We did a similar contest for dog lovers in 2004, so we wanted to give the same opportunity to cats this time around.”
The public has until February 19 to vote for their favorites. Participants are only allowed to vote a maximum of once a day. At the end of the voting period, the top eight vote getters will win a year's supply of cat food, valued at $200. The cats’ families will receive $300 in Scratch tickets.
Each of the 30 finalists will receive $10 in Cat Scratch Fever Scratch tickets when the game is available. The winners will be announced February 23. For additional information on the contest, visit www.yourkittyhere.com.
Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games - Scratch, Lotto, Powerball and Cash 5 - stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. In fiscal year 2006, more than $125.5 million was returned to Colorado. Since the lottery started in 1983, more than $1.7 billion has been returned to the state.
