Lucky for Life Top Prize Winners

Seek financial advice before claiming the top prize; consider these questions:

Cash or Annuity?

Do you want to receive your prize in the form of an annuity (a series of fixed payments paid at regular intervals over a specified period), or in one lump sum payment? If the cash option is selected, the prize will be paid at the time of the claim, after the verification of the prize amount.  If the annuity option is selected, the initial payment will be made at the time of claim, after the verification of the prize amount and all subsequent payments will be made according to such schedule of payments set at the discretion of the Lottery for the winner's life, for a minimum of twenty years.

What’s the best way to share a prize?

If you want to share a cash prize with others, you can choose to “split” the prize by having all prize winners complete IRS Tax Form 5754 that will dictate how to split certain gambling winnings. If you decide to “split” the prize, one person is designated as the prize recipient, signs the winning Lucky for Life ticket, and distributes the money. You’ll need to provide the names, addresses, social security numbers, and the gross amount to be distributed to each person.  Another way to share your winnings is to consider building a trust fund after you have claimed your prize. Your bank, attorney or certified financial advisor can give you advice about this option.

Where will you put your money?

There are FDIC regulations that need to be considered when depositing large sums of money. Contact your financial institution for more information.
