Another $1 Million Powerball Winner

DENVER – Amadou Baro is Colorado’s newest millionaire, thanks to five lucky numbers in the Powerball drawing on Wednesday, December 7. Baro matched five numbers and chose the Power Play option, increasing his winnings from $200,000 to $1,000,000. His win comes less than four months after Michael Layman won $1 million the same way.

Baro, 56 years-old, bought the ticket at the Safeway store at 6220 E. 14th Avenue in Denver. He played five games – four with numbers he chose and a fifth that was Quick Pick. The Quick Pick numbers proved lucky. He walked away with $710,000 after taxes.

The winning numbers were: 19, 30, 41, 45, 54; the Powerball was 14; the Power Play multiplier was 5.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games – Scratch, Lotto, Powerball, and Cash 5 – stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. In Fiscal Year 2005, more than $103.7 million was returned to Colorado. Since the lottery started in 1983, more than $1.6 billion has been returned to the state.
