March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month - Do you know your limits?

Healthy Play Makes Our Success
Since 1982, the Colorado Lottery has given back more than $4 BILLION to our state’s greatest asset - the great outdoors. We take our mission to serve the people of Colorado seriously, and we know that without healthy Lottery play, this immense service to our great state would not be possible.

March is the 20th annual Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM). Approximately two million U.S. adults (1% of the population) are estimated to meet criteria for severe problem gambling. Another 4-6 million (2-3%) meet the criteria for mild or moderate problem gambling.

We work hard to ensure we’re part of the solution, not the problem.
The Colorado Lottery and its employees have pledged to make responsible gaming an integral part of how we conduct our business. Year round, we run multiple campaigns to:

  • help players identify signs of problem gambling,
  • set play limitations,
  • understand the odds of winning,
  • and provide resources for help.

We are proud to be one of the first U.S. lotteries awarded the Level 4 Responsible Gaming Certification by the WLA, the organization's highest level of accreditation and the industry gold standard.

Know Your Limits
Our “Know your Limits” campaign plays on the analogy of Coloradans getting outside and enjoying the many great activities we have at our doorsteps. But, you can get too much of a good thing if you don’t understand your own limits. Think of the person who tries to hike a 14er without enough water, or who takes their fishing kayak down a whitewater river. Something fun and harmless can turn into something stressful and dangerous without much warning. That’s the way gambling is as well. Even playing the Lottery.
