4.2 Million Reasons to Give Thanks

PUEBLO -  The holiday shopping season became a little easier for Nicholas Dudik from Gardner in southern Colorado.  That’s because he was the only person to match all six numbers in the $4.2 million Lotto drawing on November 20th.  The winning combination was 12-16-21-28-29-30.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for the past ten years,” said Dudik.  “They are a combination of birthdays and anniversary dates.  I was driving the kids to school this morning and heard the numbers announced on the radio.  I knew right away that I had those numbers, at least I thought I knew I had the numbers.  After I dropped the kids off, I went home to check the numbers on the Internet -- they matched.  I still wasn’t sure, so I called a friend over, and sure enough, I won Lotto.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Western Convenience Store at 416 U.S. Highway 85/87 in Walsenburg.  Dudik chose the Cash Value and received a check for $2.1 million ($1,491,000 after tax withholding).

“This will come in handy in the next few years when we get ready to send the kids off to college,” said Dudik.  “Other than that, my wife and I aren’t sure what we are going to do with the money.  Just the other day, my wife was telling me how she wished she could take more time off from her job.  Now she doesn’t have to worry about that.  I guess she should have wished for that a long time ago.”
