Colorado Springs resident becomes State's newest millionaire!

PUEBLO - Persistence paid off for a man from Colorado Springs.  Jerry Marchant was the only person to match all six numbers in the $1.58 million Lotto drawing on March 27.  The winning combination was: 1-7-10-19-23-25.

"I've been buying two tickets for every drawing since Lotto began," said Marchant.  "I usually check my tickets right after the drawing, but I didn't have the chance until 10 p.m. Sunday night.  When I saw that all the numbers matched, I kept looking at the paper.  I was a little tired after being at work that night and thought I was seeing things.  Then I tossed and turned all night.  First I couldn't believe I had won and then I was wondering if I was the only winner."

Marchant purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket for the drawing at the Corner Store at Fillmore and I-25 in Colorado Springs.  He chose the Cash Value and will receive a check for $790,483 ($561,244 after tax withholding).

"I haven't really thought of what I'm going to do with all the money," said Marchant.  "I have some family in California and maybe we can meet up in Las Vegas or someplace like that.  I've always wanted to take a cruise, and now maybe I'll do that as well."

Marchant told Lottery officials that he would first contact his financial advisor who has been helping him with his retirement fund.  Otherwise, he plans to keep working part-time for Hertz Rent-a-Car in Colorado Springs.

Lottery officials say the Lotto drawing on Wednesday night will be worth $1 million.  The Cash Value is worth $500,000.
