Pueblo River Walk Trail Sign Unveiling

Pueblo has a River Trail that extends several miles along the Arkansas River from Pueblo West through the State Park, down to Runyon Lake and several miles along the Fountain Creek to CSU --Pueblo. On June 7, the City of Pueblo and the Colorado Lottery hosted a ribbon cutting. This sign will be one of 30 signs placed a long more than 30 miles of trails. This little known trail system is being improved and will connect The City of Pueblo with the CSU Pueblo campus and some terrific river access as well as open spaces. The City and the Lottery are committed to providing active and healthy environments for the community.

Staunton State Park Opens to Public in May 2013 - On May 18 the State of Colorado welcomed Staunton State Park as its newest State Park. The park ranges in elevation from 8,100 feet along Elk Creek to 10,240 feet near the summit of Black Mountain and embodies an exceptional cross-section of native Colorado ecosystems. The 3,700-acre property is located just outside the Denver metro area.

The Lottery is proud of the significant role we played with more than $11.44 million dollars to making the park a reality. Staunton State Park has a rich history and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife's website provides interesting reading about how the lands were donated and acquired to build Staunton.

Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Celebrates 20 Years of Distributing Lottery Funds - GOCO was created twenty years ago in 1992 when Colorado voters directed a portion of Lottery proceeds towards Colorado's wildlife, parks, rivers, trails and open spaces. Nederland Gets $653,285 in Lottery Funds - Nederland, Colorado, is a town like no other. Tucked in the Rocky Mountains just west of Boulder, Nederland has a history rich in mining and music and a future as the hub of the Peak to Peak Community. Nederland has received over $683,000 in Colorado Lottery proceeds to improve and enhance Chipeta Park, a skatepark, ice rink/tennis courts and a trail system that connects the town for pedestrians and bikes. None of these projects would have been possible without the Colorado Lottery and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) funding.

Crestone Charter School - The Crestone Charter School is culminating a specific, momentous threejourney
of seeing the completion of a new, permanent School building.
The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on the first day of school,
Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Heralded by Shumei's Taiko Drummers, students,
teachers and families were joined by out-of-town guests and helpers
from the League of Charter Schools, the Colorado Department of
Education, DSI Construction and the offices of Harry Teague Architects to
share in the celebration and witness the Ribbon Cutting. Slicing through
that Ribbon, which represented a profound milestone in the School's
seventeen year history, was it's first graduating class of the new building.

This may be the only State Lottery office in the nation with a drive-thru window. The Colorado Lottery takes pride in enhancing our communities, parks and open spaces. Calhan Receives $865,000 in Lottery Funds - The town of Calhan is very appreciative of Great Outdoors Colorado, The Colorado Lottery and the Department of Local Affairs for their generous contributions of time and resources. These contributions have enhanced the quality of life in Calhan and the whole town benefits from new playgrounds and ballparks.

His girlfriend was home when we showed up and called John to break the news! He plans on paying off all of his bills and then buying a Harley Davidson motorcycle with his winnings! Congrats John!

Golden Gate Canyon State Park Fall Colors - More than 12,000 acres of dense forest, rocky peaks, and aspen-rimmed meadows laced with miles of trails awaiting the hiker, horseback rider, mountain biker and winter sports enthusiast at Golden Gate State Park.
Only 30 miles from Denver, Golden Gate Canyon offers such amenities as a electrical hook-ups and tent-sites in two different campgrounds, stocked fishing ponds, picnic sites and the Panorama Point Scenic Overlook, where visitors can see 100 miles of the Continental Divide. The park's numerous group facilities can host several types of events, from weddings to family reunions and company picnics.

Besides camping, overnight guests can also stay at one of the five cabins and two yurts at Golden Gate. In 2008, the park began renting out guest houses, a first for a Colorado State Park. Winter will find visitors cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice fishing and ice skating.

Molas Lake - Molas Lake Campground was granted to the Town of Silverton in 1925 from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The 137-acre campground sits along the Million Dollar Highway (US 550) in the central San Juan Mountains; the most spectacular peaks in the Colorado Rockies. The Campground is adjacent to the largest wilderness area in the state of Colorado, the Weminuche Wilderness.

Molas Lake Campground provides visitors with unforgettable scenery, a stocked 25-acre lake, National Forest access via the Colorado Trail, and dark, starry skies free from light-pollution. The campground and day-use amenities were completely renovated in 2008. There are more than 50 campsites serving tent-campers, small RV's and pop-ups, and a few sites over 1,500 square feet to serve even the largest RV's. Colorado Youth Corps Working at Chatfield State Park - Governor Hickenlooper granted $1,000,000 of GOCO/Colorado Lottery funds to The Colorado Youth Corps creating over 400 jobs at no cost to the taxpayers. We visited with The Youth Corps while they were maintaining trails at the Platte River access trail in Chatfield State Park. These young people are learning group dynamics, leadership skills, a strong work ethic and environmentalism while they give back to their community.
