DENVER, March 28, 2011– Colorado claimed a piece of the Mega Millions pie – a $1 million Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Gas and Food Store, 6215 Carr St., in Arvada, Colo. The winning numbers were: 22, 24, 31, 52, 54 the Mega Ball was 4 and the Megaplier was 4. 

One lucky Mega Millions ticket worth the entire estimated $319,000,000 jackpot was sold in Albany, N.Y. According to news reports seven lucky New York state government workers bought the ticket in an office pool. Although there was only one winning ticket Friday night, there were over 3.5 million additional smaller tier prizes won as well.In fact, there were Mega Millions lottery winners in all 43 localities that play Mega Millions.

Mega Millions drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 p.m. MDT. The next drawing will take place on Tuesday, March 29. Mega Millions has a starting jackpot of $12 million and other prizes ranging from $2 to $250,000. To play, consumers choose five numbers from 1 to 56 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 46. Players that match the five numbers and the Mega Ball win the jackpot. Players can also opt to spend an extra $1 for a “Megaplier” option that will multiply their non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3 or 4 times, which would make a $250,000 prize an even $1 million.
