DENVER – Powerball players who choose the Power Play option during the month of May, have the chance to multiply their winnings by as much as 10 times. Power Play offers ticket-buyers the chance to multiply their winnings (except the jackpot) by whatever multiplier the Power Play wheel lands on, ranging from 2 to 5. Starting May 1, a '10' will replace a '5' on the Power Play wheel, potentially providing 10 times the pay off!

Thanks to the promotion, players who match five of six numbers in Powerball and opt for Power Play, will automatically win $2 million when the Power Play number is 10. The prize for matching five numbers with Power Play is usually $1 million. Last year, six Colorado residents and one Utah resident became millionaires by matching five numbers with Power Play. This year, two lucky Coloradoans have earned $1 million Powerball prizes.

If the 10 times multiplier isn’t hit during the promotional period, it will stay on the wheel until it is hit. The multiplier applies to all prizes except the jackpot. Approximately 39 percent of Colorado consumers purchase Power Play when playing Powerball.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games – Powerball, Cash 5, Scratch, Lotto and MatchPlay - stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. The Lottery has returned $2.2 billion to the state of Colorado since its creation in 1983. Through Great Outdoors Colorado, the Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks, the Lottery has provided funding for new trails, open space and wildlife protection.
