It's a HUGE weekend for jackpots.
For the first time ever, both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have simultaneously surpassed $300 million. More than $700 million is up for grabs in both drawings this weekend.
Mega Millions has a $393 million jackpot for Friday’s drawing, the largest that game has seen in more than a year. Powerball's jackpot is a whopping $356 million for Saturday's drawing.
Players must buy tickets no later than 7:30 pm tonight to be included in the Mega Millions drawing, and 7:30 pm Saturday is the deadline to join the next Powerball drawing.
Both Powerball and Mega Millions are multi-state games. Powerball, which Colorado joined in 2001, starts with a $40 million jackpot and costs $2 per play. Colorado joined the $1 per play Mega Millions in 2007, and the game begins with a $15 million jackpot. In the case of both games, players may opt to spend an extra $1 for a multiplier option, with the chance to multiply lower-tier prize amounts. To win either jackpot, a ticket must match all six of their numbers to the winning numbers.
