WINNING LOTTERY TICKETS TOTALING $2 MILLION SOLD IN LA PLATA COUNTY

DENVER,August 13, 2013 – In FY13Colorado Lottery retailers located in La Plata County sold an amazing 17 winning Lottery tickets worth more than $599! Those winning tickets were collectively worth $2,090,361! La Plata County sold two BIG winners last year, each ticket was worth $1,000,000. One ticket was a Powerball winner sold at the 7-2-11 Food Store and the other was a winning Monopoly Millionaire Scratch game ticket sold at the Mini Mart.

“In big cities and small towns – people are winning,” said Abel J. Tapia, director of the Colorado Lottery. “And they are winning in more ways than one – every time they visit a park, walk on a trail, or paddle a kayak course, they’re enjoying Colorado Lottery dollars at work. All proceeds from the sale of our games go back to the state for parks, recreation, open space and wildlife conservation. In FY13 we returned more than $135.6 million to our proceeds partners statewide.”

Since the inception of the Lottery $18.5million has been returned to La Plata County.

During the calendar year of 2012, Lottery retailers in La Plata County collectively produced more than $685,000 in Lottery proceeds to improve the quality of life within the state.

Examples of these Lottery contributions can be seen in the $1.2 million spent to develop the Horse Gulch - Fort Lewis College Board Parcel in Durango in 2010, and the $700,000 that went towards the City of Durango Multi-Use Fields in 2012.
