POWERBALL JACKPOT INCREASES TO NEARLY RECORD LEVEL: IT’S HUGE

DENVER, Feb.10, 2012– The Powerball jackpot is officially HUGE and it just got bigger! Since no one hit the Powerball jackpot in Wednesday night’s drawing, the jackpot for tomorrow night’s jackpot is now $325,000,000 with an estimated $202.9 million in cash! If the jackpot does not get hit Saturday night, it is estimated to grow to an even HUGER $415 million for Wednesday’s drawing. The largest Powerball jackpot ever on record was $365 million in February of 2006.

Effective January 15, 2012, the Powerball game, which is played in 44 jurisdictions, underwent a makeover. Tickets for Powerball went from $1 to $2, jackpots now start $40 million instead of $20 million and the overall odds of winning any prize are better too. The odds of winning the jackpot are about 1-in-176 million as opposed to the previous odds of 1-in-196 million. And, the overall odds of winning a prize have improved from 1-in-35 to 1-in-32 and it’s beginning to show. Colorado just awarded its first Powerball with PowerPlay $2 million winner this past week!
