DENVER – The Colorado Lottery’s most winnable jackpot game is about to provide consumers with even more chances to win. The Lottery is adding a Sunday night drawing for Cash 5 starting Nov. 22nd, providing players the opportunity to win the game’s $20,000 jackpot every day of the week.

“The Lottery paid out 91 Cash 5 jackpots in Fiscal Year 2009 alone,” said Colorado Lottery Director Jack Boehm. “With the addition of a seventh drawing day, we expect those numbers to grow.”

Launched in 1996, Cash 5 offers an overall probability of winning of 1 in 6.2. The game’s jackpot is hit on average 7.5 times per month. Cash 5 is also the only jackpot game the Lottery offers that allows players to multiply their potential winnings tenfold, by playing up to ten boards of the same numbers per drawing.

The game’s strong odds and ability to play multiple boards have attracted a loyal following. Even in the tough economy, Cash 5 posted record sales of $20.8 million in FY 09 and raised $7.1 million for the Lottery’s proceeds beneficiaries. Since its founding, the game had paid out over $20.6 million to more than 1,000 top-prize winners.

Cash 5 sales begin at 4:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Sales are suspended at 7:30 p.m. daily, to accommodate the drawings, which are held at approximately 7:40 p.m. Players may purchase tickets for up to 91 draws or 13 weeks in advance.

Proceeds from Cash 5 and the Colorado Lottery’s other games – Powerball, Lotto, and Scratch – stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. Through Great Outdoors Colorado, the Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks, the Lottery has provided more than $2 billion in funding since 1983 to build new trails, preserve open space, construct recreation centers and protect wildlife habitat.
