CASH 5 WIN MAKES CHRISTMAS MERRIER FOR WONDERVU MAN
DENVER - Christmas came early this year for Marvin Miner, a vending machine service technician, who won $20,000 in the Cash 5 drawing December 13th.
Miner usually checks his ticket every morning before work while enjoying a cup of coffee. He was in such disbelief when he discovered he won, that he had to wake up his wife to verify the numbers.
“I said, ‘You’ve got to get up and see this. You’re not going to believe it,’” recounted Miner. “And she said, ‘What? Did we get two feet of snow?’”
Miner plans to use the winnings to pay bills, fund a kitchen renovation and splurge on gifts for his 10 grandchildren.
“There’s nothing better than seeing a smile on a grandkid’s face,” Miner said.
A regular Cash 5 player, Miner usually buys advance plays for five drawings when he purchases tickets. He picks his numbers using “gut instinct” and plays them for a few months at a time.
“It’s a meditation,” joked Miner, whose winning numbers were: 1, 5, 21, 25 and 27.
Miner purchased his winning ticket at the Kwik Mart located at 20520 Hwy 72 in Golden, not far from his Wondervu home. The store will receive $200 for selling the lucky ticket.
