Colorado Has First Powerball Winner!

PUEBLO – The Colorado Lottery had its first ever Powerball Jackpot winner. One ticket matched all five numbers and the Powerball number to win the $20 million jackpot in the drawing on October 10, 2007. The cash value for the ticket is $9.4 million. The ticket was sold in the Denver Metro Area.

The winning numbers were: 12, 16, 31, 33, 54 and the Powerball was 5. The Power Play multiplier was 4.

Lottery officials advise the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately to establish ownership. Tickets are bearer instruments so whoever signs the ticket may have legal claim to the jackpot.

Colorado has been a member of Powerball since 2001, but before last night, the biggest Powerball prize was $1 million.

This will rank as the third largest jackpot given away in Colorado, behind Lotto jackpots of $27 million in 1992 and $21 million in 2000.

Lottery proceeds are distributed to three primary beneficiaries: Great Outdoors Colorado, Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks. These organizations then provide grants and direct funding for parks, recreation, open space acquisition, trails, wildlife and conservation education.
