Save Non-Winning Tickets for State Fair Drawing

DENVER – Want a second-chance? The Colorado Lottery is going to give you one. On June 25, players can begin dropping off non-winning Lottery tickets at select locations across the state for a chance to win more than $20,000 in prizes at the Colorado State Fair, Aug. 24 – Sept. 3.

“How often do you get a second chance in life, so players shouldn’t pass up this opportunity,” said Peggy Gordon, director of the Colorado Lottery. “Our second-chance drawings at the State Fair have always been popular, so we wanted to offer it again this year.”

Scratch, Powerball, Lotto and Cash 5 tickets can be dropped off at Lottery offices, Loaf ‘N Jug stores and the Colorado State Fair.

  • Lottery Claims Centers: Monday, June 25 - Monday, Aug. 20, until 4:45 p.m.
  • Colorado Loaf ‘N Jug Stores: Monday, June 25 - Friday, Aug. 17, until 11:59 p.m.
  • Colorado State Fair: Friday, Aug. 24 – Monday, Sept. 3 until 1 p.m.

New this year, players can only enter non-winning Scratch, Lotto, Cash 5 and Powerball tickets that were available for sale from Sept. 4, 2006, through Sept. 3, 2007.

During the Fair, Lottery officials will hold a daily drawing for one prize of 300 $1 Scratch tickets. In a separate drawing, finalists will be selected for the grand prize drawing after each daily winner is picked. The grand prize drawing for $20,000 will be held on the last day of the Fair at 2 p.m. Second prize is 60 $5 Scratch tickets, and third prize is 300 $1 Scratch tickets. Drawings will take place in front of the Colorado Lottery/Loaf ‘N Jug building on the fairgrounds.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games – Scratch, Lotto, Powerball and Cash 5 – stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. Since the lottery started in 1983, more than $1.8 billion has been returned to the state through the Lottery’s primary proceeds recipients. These organizations provide grants and direct funding for parks, recreation, open space acquisition, trails, wildlife and conservation education.
