Archuleta County Resident Wins Top Prize in Lottery Scratch Game

DENVER - Dwight Darmour of Pagosa Springs, Colo., won $50,000 in the Colorado Lottery’s Scratch game $5 Super Crossword. The Sonoco, located at 642 San Juan St., sold the winning ticket.

In Archuleta County, more than $8 million in Lottery proceeds have helped to improve community facilities, local parks and nature trails such as the Navajo River Watershed, Pagosa Area Trails Project, Pagosa Springs Sports Complex and South Pagosa Park in Pagosa Springs.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games - Scratch, Lotto, Powerball, and Cash 5 - stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. In fiscal year 2005, more than $103.7 million was returned to Colorado. Since the lottery started in 1983, more than $1.6 billion has been returned to the state.
