“How Many Times Can Lightning Strike?”

DENVER - Martha Ray of Naturita won the top prize in a Colorado Lottery Scratch game twice in two months. In July, she won $20,000 in the Lottery’s game $2 Piggy Bank and then won again with the same game this month.

The retailers that sold the winning tickets are Nucla Mercantile in Nucla and Family Market in Naturita.

Ray decided to buy the ticket on a whim because ‘the little piggy on the ticket just caught (her) eye.’ When she realized her good fortune the second time around, she was happy but shocked. "How many times can lightning strike? I don’t know what the secret is to my luck."

The Montrose County homemaker plans to put the majority of it into savings as well as share a portion of the winnings with family and friends.

In Montrose County, more than $8 million in Lottery proceeds have helped to improve community parks, wildlife areas and nature trails, such as the Montrose County Fairgrounds, Naturita City Park and Uncompahgre River Trail.
