Recognizing excellence!
Colorado Lottery's Starburst Award recognizes excellence in the use of Lottery profits for projects that promote community-building, partnership, conservation and commitment to the recreational needs of Colorado residents. Award recipients are recognized at the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and Colorado Open Space Alliance conferences every year.
This program is open to any entity that receives Lottery funds, and for projects that were completed within the past five years. Applicants may submit one entry for consideration for each of the categories for Starburst Community and/or Conservation Awards.
Entry deadline date: July 1, 2011
STARBURST COMMUNITY AWARD
This award recognizes community projects executed to enhance a community’s environment. Applicants may submit an entry for consideration for each of the categories based on the dollars spent on a project.
For small communities serving up to 10,000 households:
- Projects under $200,000
- Projects within $200,000 - $500,000
- $500,000 - $1 million
- Over $1 million
For medium-sized communities serving 10,000 - 60,000 households:
- Projects under $100,000
- Projects within $100,000 - $500,000
- $500,000 - $1 million
- Over $1 million
For large communities serving up to 60,000 households:
- Projects under $200,000
- Projects within $200,000 - $500,000
- $500,000 - $1 million
- Over $1 million

- Describe how Lottery dollars were used in the project.
- Describe the economic and social impact, if any, to the community.
- Color photos of your project, to be used for Lottery promotional materials: tif, eps or jpgs of 300dpi are required.
STARBURST CONSERVATION AWARD MANAGEMENT CATEGORY
This award recognizes excellence in the management of open space resources which may include the management of trails, capital projects, and creative planning.
Submit the following for Award consideration:

STARBURST CONSERVATION AWARD ACQUISITION CATEGORY
Recognizes the quality of acquisitions of strategic parcels of land and connector properties to enhance a community’s open space resources.
