PUEBLO - While the Front Range is digging out from this weekend’s blizzard, Nathan Ridlen, 22, of Manitou Springs is digging out from the $7.6 million fortune he won Saturday night. That’s because he was the only person to match all six numbers in Saturday night’s Lotto drawing. The winning combination was 4-9-25-27-30-31.
“I’ve been playing two Lotto and two Powerball tickets for every drawing for the past three years,” said Ridlen. “On Sunday morning, I checked my numbers on the Lottery’s Web site. With each number I matched, my heart started beating faster and faster. When I finally believed that I had won, I ran downstairs and started dancing. My parents thought I had lost it. It took my parents quite awhile to convince them that I had won.”
The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at the Sinclair convenience store at 201 Manitou Avenue in Manitou Springs. Ridlen chose the Cash Option and received a check for $3,802,150
($2,699,527 after tax withholding).
“While I have always told people that I was going to win Lotto, now that I have, I don’t know what I’m going to do with the money,” said Ridlen. “Right now, I work for an office supply store. I’m not sure how long I will stay there. I’ve always wanted to go to college to pursue a business degree. Now I don’t have any excuses.”
Ridlen told Lottery officials that in addition to going back to school he will use some of his money to buy his first home. The rest he will put in the bank for the future.
