Parker Resident Surprised by Lottery Prize Patrol
Several lucky Lotto players to win 2004 VW Convertibles as part of the Lottery’s Lotto Bug Promotion
DENVER -- With warming weather comes green grass, leaves on the trees, bright flowers and bugs. And while most bugs are unwanted pests, there’s one set of bugs Lotto players hope to find in their garage -- a Lotto Bug. Once again, the Colorado Lottery is giving away Volkswagen Beetles to four lucky Lotto players.
As part of the promotion, the Colorado Lottery’s Prize Patrol made a surprise visit to award Jody Harvey of Parker a brand new 2004 Volkswagen Beetle convertible.
“When I saw them drive up in the Bug, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said Harvey. “I just sent the ticket in the other day -- one ticket that’s all it takes. Just last night I found out that my uncle had died and I spent the morning feeling sad. Then this happened and my day did a complete 180. It just goes to show you never know what’s going to happen.”
Entry into the "Catch the Lotto Bug" promotion requires that players purchase a minimum of $5 on one Lotto ticket between April 11, and May 12, 2004. Tickets purchased after May 12, 2004 will not be eligible for the drawing.
Players can mail their non-cash-winning $5 Lotto tickets to: Catch the Lotto Bug Drawing, P.O. Box 18003, Pueblo, CO 81008-0303. All entries must contain a valid and legible name, address and telephone number in order to be eligible.
The Lottery will conduct three more drawings: one on April 30, one on May 7, and one on May 19. One Volkswagen Beetle convertible will be awarded at each of the four drawing events. Tickets submitted prior to 5pm the day before each drawing will be eligible for that drawing only. Any entry received after 5pm on May 18, 2004 will not be eligible for any drawing.
The location of the drawings and the time of the drawings will be publicly announced and posted on the Colorado Lottery website.
The Lottery will select a total of four prizewinners of a Volkswagen Beetle Convertible during the Catch the Lotto Bug drawings. Each car has an approximate value of $35,000 and includes taxes and licensing fees that will be paid by the Colorado Lottery.
“The Colorado Lottery is about having fun and I feel promotions like this bring a lot of excitement to our players,” said Lottery Promotions and Special Events Manager, Laura Stitt. Our players keep telling us how much they like Lotto not only because proceeds generated from the game go to park and recreation projects but because they are familiar with the game and most people associate the Lottery with Lotto. The same can be said about the Beetle. It’s a product that brings a smile to the faces of people when they see one. It’s a perfect fit.”
