WINNING LOTTERY TICKETS TOTALING $2.4 MILLION SOLD IN ARAPAHOE COUNTY

DENVER,August 14, 2013 – In FY13Colorado Lottery retailers located in Arapahoe County sold 320 winning Lottery tickets worth more than $599! Those winning tickets were collectively worth $2,418,068! The biggest winner sold in Arapahoe County last year was a $250,000 Mega Millions ticket sold at 7-Eleven at 7451 S. Gartrell Road, Aurora, Colo.

 “In big cities and small towns – people are winning,” said Abel J. Tapia, director of the Colorado Lottery. “And they are winning in more ways than one – every time they visit a park, walk on a trail, or paddle a kayak course, they’re enjoying Colorado Lottery dollars at work. All proceeds from the sale of our games go back to the state for parks, recreation, open space and wildlife conservation. In FY13 we returned more than $135.6 million to our proceeds partners statewide.”

Since the inception of the Lottery $130.9 million has been returned to Arapahoe County.

During the calendar year of 2012, Lottery retailers in Arapahoe County collectively produced nearly $460,000 in Lottery proceeds to improve the quality of life within the city and state.

Examples of these Lottery contributions can be seen in the $175,000 spent to develop Cole Park Skate Park, and the $75,000 that went towards the Arapahoe Community Trails and Cross-Country Course Master Plan.
