POWERBALL JACKPOT REACHES $325 MILLION

POWERBALL JACKPOT REACHES $325 MILLION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DENVER, November 23, 2012 – The jackpot for Saturday night's multi-state Powerball drawing is up to $325 million! The winning ticket will be worth an estimated $212.8 million in cash.  If there is no Jackpot winner tomorrow night, the estimate for the next drawing on Wednesday, November 28 is $425 million, which would be the highest Powerball jackpot ever.

The highest Powerball jackpot was $365 million in 2006. This is the highest Powerball jackpot since August 15, when the jackpot was $337 million.

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. MST. Powerball is a multi-state game with a starting jackpot of $40 million and other prizes ranging from $4 up to $2 million. To play, consumers choose five numbers from 1 to 59 and one Powerball number from 1 to 35. Players that match five numbers and the Powerball win the jackpot. Players can also opt to spend an extra $1 for a Power Play option, which gives players a chance to win $2 million on the match 5 prize and increases the lower-tier prize amounts.

Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games – Mega Millions, Cash 5, Scratch, Lotto, Raffle and Powerball - stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state.
