POWERBALL JACKPOT CLIMBS TO $220 MILLION

DENVER, August 10, 2011– Nobody hit Saturday night’s multi-state Powerball jackpot, making tonight’s Powerball drawing worth $220 million! The winning ticket will be worth an estimated $118.8 million in cash. The jackpot has been growing since June 29, when a $77.1 million jackpot was hit.

Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 p.m. MST. Powerball has a starting jackpot of $20 million and other prizes ranging from $3 to $1 million. To play, consumers choose five numbers from 1 to 59 and one Powerball number from 1 to 39. Players that match the five numbers and the Powerball win the jackpot. Players can also opt to spend an extra $1 for a “PowerPlay” option that will multiply their non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times. Players who match 5 of 5 with the PowerPlay option automatically win a cool $1 million.
