$1 MILLION POWERBALL WINNER IN SOUTHERN COLORADO

DENVER, May 16, 2011– A gentleman from Fountain, Colo., won $1 million paying Powerball last week. The lucky winner matched 5 numbers to win $200,000 and because he purchased the Power Play option for an additional $1 the ticket was worth a cool $1 million!

Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at approximately 9 p.m. MDT. The next drawing will take place on Wednesday, May 18. The estimated jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is $97 million. To play, consumers choose five numbers from 1 to 59 and one Powerball number from 1 to 39. Players that match the five numbers and the Powerball win the jackpot. Players can also opt to spend an extra $1 for a “Power Play” option that will multiply their non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4 or 5 times. If 5 numbers are matched with the Power Play option, the ticket winnings are $1 million.
