Does Your Kitty Want a Ticket to Fame?
DENVER – Forget thin supermodels. And who needs rippling abs? The Colorado Lottery is looking for four-legged superstars with paws, whiskers and maybe even a little fur. Starting on December 26, Coloradans can submit a mug of their felines for a chance to be on the Cat Scratch Fever Scratch ticket.
“Who doesn't believe their cat is cute enough to be on a Lottery ticket?” asked Peggy Gordon, director of the Colorado Lottery. “This is a fun opportunity for animal lovers to show off their pets and help us create another purrr-fect ticket.”
Cat owners must visit www.yourkittyhere.com and submit pictures of their pets by January 26, 2007, at midnight. The Lottery will then hold a random drawing to select 30 finalists from the entries received.
The eight winners will be selected by popular vote. The public has between February 5 and 19 to vote for their favorite felines. Winning cats will receive a year's supply of cat food, and their owners will receive $300 in Scratch tickets.
The Cat Scratch Fever ticket will be available in June. For additional information on the contest, visit www.yourkittyhere.com.
Proceeds from the Colorado Lottery’s games - Scratch, Lotto, Powerball and Cash 5 - stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. In fiscal year 2006, more than $125.5 million was returned to Colorado. Since the lottery started in 1983, more than $1.7 billion has been returned to the state.
